Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral (OSAR) Services

Mid-Coast Family Services offers comprehensive services for adults and youth who have been affected by alcohol and drug abuse.  Licensed counselors are available to assist with:
  • Substance use screenings and assessments
  • Brief motivational counseling
  • Crisis Intervention Counseling
  • Crisis calls answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Referrals to treatment and/or other support services
  • Authorization of admission to state-funded residential treatment
  • Follow-up after treatment for further services, if needed
  • Education services and materials for presentations

As the OSAR for Region 8, we utilize the Texas Department of State Health Services Priority Population Criteria when providing screening, assessment, and referral to treatment services.  While we make every effort to see all clients at their scheduled appointment times, we WILL give preference to clients in the following order of priority:

  1. Pregnant injecting drug user
  2. Pregnant drug user
  3. Injecting drug user
  4. Parents will children in foster care
  5. Veterans with honorable discharge
